It has been brought to my attention that staff of the Butte County Department of Social
Services lack access to email across the Internet. It is difficult to understand the rational for
the omission. Email is a dominant force in our society, saving time, increasing efficiency,
keeping communication open and flowing and reducing the anxiety and stress attendant to
many functions of our society. I suggest that the Board of Supervisors enable email messaging
for the Department of Social Services; as a common inbox or individual inboxes for staff. Rest
assured that citizens, including myself, that receive help from Department of Social Services,
will very much appreciate email access to the Department staff.
