Good afternoon Board Members,
Today is Dino Cabal’s last day with Information Systems. We have been working with HR on a
recruitment, using the help of a recruiting firm. The position will be flown next week.
Meanwhile, we have been looking for an interim director to be in place during the recruitment
period. Normally we would ask the Assistant Department Head to fill this role. In this instance,
however, I will not be asking Josh Kincheloe to do this. Among other things, Josh is demanding a
one-year contract, which is not something I can recommend.
We have searched for an interim director formally through professional groups, and informally with
retired annuitants and other skilled individuals, without success. As a stopgap measure, I have
assigned Sang Kim from my office as Acting I.S. Director while we continue to search and recruit.
This will put strain on my office, but I feel it’s important to have a director in place who is responsive
to the Board and responsive to my office. Although Sang is not a technology expert, he is an
excellent manager and can help me guide the department through the transition.
