At that time, most of the trees on the site were identified and included in the report dated September 9, 2019, however, the Skyway Road Right of Way was under construction and the northern side of the property was excluded. This addendum adds the trees located in these two areas for a complete inventory of all the trees on the property. The property is 3100 Skyway Road, Paradise, CA 95969. (See Supporting Information –ARBORIST FIRE EVALUATION & TREE PRESERVATION PLAN, dated September 9, 2019.) R. Cory Kinley, ISA Certified Arborist WE-9717A, conducted the onsite survey on several days in August 2020, Dave Merchado, ISA Certified Arborist WE-9717A continued the survey in early September, and Nicole Harrison, ISA Certified Arborist #WE-6500AM, visited the site on September 3rd, 2020, to review the findings. The impacts from the fire and/or grading were not definitive. If preserved, these trees may decline and die. The trees surveyed in 2019 were not revisited to determine current status. Some of these trees may now be dead on the site. Melton Design Group, Tuscan Ridge Golf Course, Paradise, CA 10/31/2020 Nicole Harrison, Consulting Arborist Page 2 of 20 Level of Inspection, Testing and Analysis A Level 1 – Limited Visual Assessment was performed in accordance with the International Society of Arboriculture’s best management practices. No laboratory or chemical testing and analysis was performed, only ground level observations. Methods (See also Methodology in original report) Appendix 2 in this report is the detailed inventory of the trees. The following terms will further explain our methods and findings. Tree Location: The GPS location of each tree was collected using the ESRI’s ArcGIS collector application on an Apple iPhone or Samsung. The data was then processed in ESRI’s ArcMap by Julie McNamara, M.S. GISci, to produce the tree location map. Tree Measurements: DBH (diameter breast high) is normally measured at 4’6” (above the average ground height for “Urban Forestry”), but if that varies then the location where it is measured is noted. A steel diameter tape was used to measure the DBH for all trees. A Stanley laser distance meter was used to measure distances and/or pacing was used to estimate canopy measurements. Canopy radius measurements may also have been estimated due to obstructions, such as steep slopes or other trees. Discussion Tree Response to Fire Damage. Trees contain significant reserves within their twigs, limbs, and trunk. Fire can severe the roots from the trunk, girdling the tree and cutting off the resources to continue to grow, and yet the tree will still respond and grow new leaves. Like a cut Christmas tree, the green can remain for a time without support of the root system. Trees are listed as ‘Preserve with Caution’, an arborist Rating of 2, did not have definitive symptoms and/or signs of severe decline. Accordingly, the impacts from the fire and/or soil degradation from grading were also not definitive. If preserved, these trees may decline and die or recover and continue to live for years to come. It will be imperative that the site planning consider these trees differently as they will need more care than strong, vigorous trees. The trees surveyed in 2019 were not revisited to determine current status. Some of these trees may now be dead on the site. Conclusion See summary table and appendices below.
