COMPLIANCE INSPECTIONS BEGIN FOR PARTICIPANTS OF THE CAMP FIRE PRIVATE HAZARD TREE
REMOVAL PROGRAM
Butte County, Calif.— Property owners who removed their own Hazard trees and enrolled in the private
program for Butte County/Town of Paradise to verify compliance are now one step closer to completing
the Hazard Tree Removal Program. The County and Town are currently reaching out to property owners
to schedule Compliance Inspection appointments.
Through the Right of Entry process, property owners have provided the County/Town permission to
access their property and confirm compliance. In some cases, property owners may be interested in
accompanying the inspector during the inspection. The County/Town will make three attempts to
contact the property owner and arrange a day that works for them to complete the inspection. Many
property owners are not in the area and do not wish to accompany the inspector. Property owners are
not required to be present during the inspection.
Arborists contracted with Butte County and the Town of Paradise will visit properties enrolled in the
Private Hazard Tree Removal Program to verify that any and all Hazard Trees that pose a danger of
falling onto a public or eligible private road have been removed from the property. Once a Compliance
Inspection is completed and Arborists have verified that Hazard Trees have been removed from a
property, a letter of completion will be issued to the property owner.
Property owners enrolled in the Private Hazard Tree Removal Program are encouraged to contact the
Tree Removal ROE Center at 530.552.3030 to make an appointment for a Compliance Inspection.
Compliance Inspections will take place Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Property Owners who have not yet enrolled in a Hazard Tree Removal program are strongly encouraged
to promptly enroll in either the Government Hazard Tree Removal Program or the Private Hazard Tree
Removal program. Tree Removal Program information is available at
https://buttecountyrecovers.org/private-property-tree-removal/. Property owners with questions or
who need assistance enrolling in a program should call the Hazard Tree Removal ROE center at
530.552.3030.
Arborists conducting Compliance Inspections will only need access to outside areas of a property, and
will follow all COVID-19 guidelines. CalTLC Arborists contracted with Butte County will be wearing
yellow vests with the CalTLC logo and will be driving vehicles with CalTLC signage. Tetra Tech Arborists
contracted with the Town of Paradise will be wearing blue vests with the Tetra Tech logo and will be
driving vehicles with Tetra Tech signage.
