Yoder and Karen Lange - SYASL COVID-19 Update AT0 COVID-19 Updates www.covid19.ca.gov July 6, 2020 State Legislature It appears that the Legislature is not returning next week due to multiple legislators testing positive for COVID-19, along with around a dozen staff. This will further compress the hearing schedule and may ultimately result in hearings on weekends, and even tighter time frames to conclude the legislative session. Newsom Administration - Resources / Mutual Aid / Executive Orders Today, Governor Newsom provided an update on the States response to COVID-19. The Governor announced that Colusa, Marin, Madera, Monterey, and San Diego counties have been added to the watch list. There was noticeable enforcement efforts around the State over the holiday weekend, which will continue. Alcohol Beverage Control alone made close to 6k visits to bars and restaurants over the holiday weekend. The Governor said overall there was a spirit of education, cooperation, and collaboration. Letter from Governor Newsom Calling on Elected Officials In a letter dated July 1, Governor Newsom called on elected officials, reminding them of their power under the California Constitution to uphold and enforce requirements related to the COVID-19 pandemic and keeping citizens safe. The letter also reminds locals of their ability to jeopardize their eligibility for state funding should they choose not to do so. You may view the letter here.
