Yoder and Karen Lange - SYASL COVID-19 Update AT0 COVID-19 Updates www.covid19.ca.gov July 24, 2020 Newsom Administration - Resources / Mutual Aid / Executive Orders Today, Governor Newsom announced a host of new safeguards for California workers who face the most significant risk of contracting COVID-19. In addition to support for workers, including agricultural and farmworkers, to isolate and quarantine through an extension of the Project Homkey Program, Governor Newsom unveiled an education campaign for workers and employers. He also committed to working with the Legislature and key stakeholders to expand critical protections like paid sick leave. Income Tax Withholding Tracker: July 20-July 24 The LAO has updated its income tax withholder tracker. California income tax withholding this just 1.6 percent below the comparable period in 2019. Remote Voting Due to threats of COVID-19, both houses of the Legislature plan to allow some members at higher risk for the virus to weigh in on pending bills from their districts when the Legislature reconvenes in Sacramento next week. Evictions According to a tweet from Capitol Accounts: Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye says the Judicial Council is poised to rescind emergency rules freezing eviction proceedings effective Aug. 14. Says issue belongs to Legislature and governor's office. "I urge our sister branches to turn their attention to this important work."
