Newsom Administration - Resources / Mutual Aid / Executive Orders
Today, Governor Newsom announced $81.8 million in additional funding commitments from
private and philanthropic partners for community-based organizations in areas
disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. The funds will support local public health
departments with contact tracing while also connecting individuals who are not able to isolate
appropriately and quarantine, as well as services and supports.
The press had several questions around Dr. Sonia Angells resignation today. The Governor
stated that Dr. Angell submitted her resignation, and the Department accepted and that he
would not discuss personnel matters in a public forum. He stated the glitch was related to a
combination of IT and staff communication issues that have since been addressed and that his
administration will continue to strengthen both moving forward. He also stated that at the end
of the day, he is ultimately responsible as the Governor of California. The testing backloghas
been resolved, and results are being sent to counties. The Governor also noted that current
