Yoder and Karen Lange - SYASL COVID-19 Update AT0 COVID-19 Updates www.covid19.ca.gov August 26, 2020 Newsom Administration - Resources / Mutual Aid / Executive Orders Today, Governor Newsom announced that California has signed a contract with a major diagnostics company, which will allow California to process up to an additional 150,000 COVID-19 diagnostic tests a day, with a contractual turnaround time of 24-48 hours. The goal is to stand up a laboratory facility and begin processing tens of thousands of additional tests by November 1 and run at full capacity by no later than March 1, 2021. This new partnership will also allow the State to drive down costs for testing and be adequately prepared for the flu season. California State Senate A member of the Senate tested positive for COVID-19 causing todays Floor Session to be canceled. Shasta County Letter re State Targets for Positivity Rates In July, Shasta County sent a letter to the Governor suggesting changes to the metrics for positive tests within the county. Coalition Letter to FEMA re Public Assistance Funding Change A coalition representing cities and counties have sent a letter to FEMA expressing concern over recent communications from FEMA indicating the agency intends to eliminate PPEand disinfectants as eligible reimbursable expenses under Public Assistance for COVID-19.
