CITY OF CHICO ACTIVATES COOLING CENTER
AT DEPOT PARK
(Chico, CA – September 4, 2020 –) With temperatures forecasted to rise into the triple digitsthis
upcoming weekend, an emergency cooling center will be made available on Saturday, September
5 through Monday, September 7, 2020. The cooling center will be located at Depot Park, on 5th
and Cedar Streets, and will be open from noon through 8:00 p.m. each day. The cooling center
will consist of a shade structure with misters for those seeking respite from the heat.
“The City Council directed staff to ensure this venue is available to the public when extreme
weather conditions exist,” said Mark Orme, City of Chico City Manager.
