Dear landowners, as you know we have a yearly District update meeting but due to the Covid-19
pandemic unfortunately we are unable to do that. We hope this news letter will find all of you well and
safe until we meet again.
Rock Creek Reclamation District provides flood control and groundwater sustainability services to
approximately 4,625 acres of agricultural and single-family residential parcels. The District has a long
track record of undertaking flood projects for the benefit of its landowners and will continue to provide
services and benefits to the community in this area. In 2018 Rock Creek Reclamation District expanded to
a Sphere of Influence of approximately 19,027 acres (total 23,652 acres).
The District is governed by a seven (7) member Board of Trustees elected for staggered four (4) year
terms. The Trustees are Paul Behr, Elvin Bentz, Mary Jo Lauderdale, Daniel Paiva, Tom Peterson,
George Nicolaus, and Aimee Raymond. Every odd year, a notice of nomination form will be made
available around July and any interested landowners or representative of a landowner wanting to become
a Trustee may submit the nomination form to the District.

Flood prevention and local control of groundwater resources is incredibly important to
Rock Creek Reclamation District and its landowners, including landowners within its sphere of
influence.
In 2015 the District formed as a Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA) and more recently elected to
retain its independent GSA status, rather than forfeiting it by joining the Vina GSA (made up of the
County, Chico and Durham Irrigation District). Rock Creek Reclamation District, as a GSA, is in a great
position to creatively comply with the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) in a manner
that makes the most sense locally and in the most economical manner.

enhancement project) and other direct or indirect flood control and groundwater recharge projects.
Rock Creek Reclamation District is the only independent, Ag-run GSA (and will remain so) in
the Vina Subbasin, it is an entity that can truly provide local control of groundwater resources as
a GSA with an agriculture perspective.
Actively working with Vina-GSA and stakeholders for the completion of the Groundwater
Sustainability Plan (GSP).
