Weekly County Update
September 4, 2020
A LOOK AHEAD
The legislature finished up the 2019-2020 session early Tuesday morning, marking the end
of a very challenging legislative year. With the exception of AB 3088 (Chiu) regarding evictions, the
Governor has yet to sign or veto any legislation that passed out of the houses and must be acted
upon by September 30, 2020.
Next week we will provide reports on bills sent to the Governor for signature.
The passage of SB 793 (Hill) that will prohibit the sale of most flavored tobacco products has already been
met with a referendum effort filed with the Secretary of State on August 31, 2020. Accordingly signature
gathering has begun in order to qualify for the 2022 ballot.
