BUTTE COUNTY CONTINUUM OF CARE TO CONDUCT 2022 POINT IN TIME COUNT ON JANUARY 26
Butte County, CA-- On January 26, 2022, the Butte County Continuum of Care (CoC) will be
conducting the Point in Time (PIT) count, also known as the homeless census, with the assistance of
Butte County employees, CoC participating agencies and community volunteers. The count will start
at sunrise and continue throughout the day.
Each year, CoCs are mandated to count the number of people experiencing homelessness who are in
emergency shelters, transitional housing, and safe havens. CoCs must also record the number of
people experiencing unsheltered homelessness on a single night, bi-annually, as required by the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The PIT will be conducted via interviews with individuals who are experiencing homelessness in Butte
County. Individuals can participate by completing a survey at one of the HUB locations, listed on the
attached Unsheltered PIT and Youth Location Flyers, or they can complete a survey by speaking with
volunteers who will be canvassing the county. Attached to this email is also a flyer entitled 2022 PIT
Volunteer. This flyer contains information for individuals who would like to volunteer to assist with
the 2022 PIT. All volunteers will need to complete a short training. At this time the training will be
th
provided the day of the PIT Count on January 26.
