From Hello to Help, 211 is Here
Today, February 11th is National 211 Day!
211's throughout California and across the nation celebrate National 211 Day
(2/11) to share awareness of the work that 211 systems do everywhere. 211 is
a free and confidential helpline that operates throughout North America to
connect people to the local resources they need 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week. Millions of Americans receive help by calling their local 211 services
each year.
In Butte, Glenn, Tehama, and Shasta counties, 211 is here for you in the north
state. Whether you are facing personal hardship, recovering from a natural
disaster, or enduring the global pandemic, 211 is here to help you find
resources, explore options, and to stay safe. Our 211 Call Specialists are
trained to listen, assess, and connect you with the appropriate services that
offer help.
We invite you to join us in celebrating 211 systems everywhere on 2/11!
See our Butte-Glenn 211 Instagram and Facebook for updates to share with
your friends and networks. Thank you for your continued support of our
mission to ensure that every person in our community has a connecting point
to necessary resources.

5 Reasons To Call or Text 2-1-1
From hello to help, 211 is here for every person and every problem.
In a crisis, in a disaster, in a pandemic, 211 is here to help our community.
Here’s five reasons why you should use this vital service—and let
others know about it, too.
1. 211 provides connections to many kinds of resources and services, including:
· Mental health concerns and support groups
· Disaster assistance
· Food and Meals
· Benefits programs and financial assistance
· Health care and insurance
· Shelter, housing and utilities payment assistance
· Unemployment services
· Services for domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking
· Veteran services
· Children and families services
2. The 211 Information & Referral specialists are amazing listeners!
211 does more than “patch people through” to agencies. Instead, when
someone has challenges, they can reach a real person- a caring expert who
offers comfort, hope, and solutions – from the first hello to the final connection
to help.
Just see what one 211 team member had to say:
“211 is one of the few places where people can call and there is a real person
on the other end – to provide information, patience, empathy, and empowering
action steps.”
3. 211 is simple and convenient to use. The service is free, confidential, and
accessible 24/7/365. It’s also available in more than 180 languages.
4. There’s more than one way to use 211. You can dial 2-1-1 on your phone and
speak to a trained 211 specialist. Or you can browse local resources online at
helpcentral.org. The service is also available by texting your zip code to
898211.
5. 211 tackles problems at the roots. In fact, 211 specialists are trained to
identify and address the underlying root causes of a client’s problem – and
connect them with a wide range of available resources that meet all their
underlying needs, not just the one that prompted the call, text, or email.
