HomeMy WebLinkAbout21-139MUD SYCAMORE WHEREAS the County of Butte is a political subdivision of the State of California with responsibility for levee and flood facility maintenance of the Mud -Sycamore Creek Levee System which is part of the State Plain of Flood Control and is willing to participate in, coordinate, and collaborate with other interested parties in the maintenance and resiliency of County of Butte flood management; and WHEREAS, The 20,17 Central Valley Flood Protection Plan update recognized that the operation and maintenance of the State Plan of Flood Control facilities has been chronically underfunded. In response to this need, the Legislature and Governor of the State of California have provided funds for the Deferred Maintenance Project under Section 6,10 of Senate Bill 826 (STATS. 2016, CH. 23). It is the Department of Water Resources' intent to work in collaboration with the Central Valley Flood Protection Board to allocate a portion) of the funds to Local Maintaining Agencies (LMAs), and WHEREAS, the Department of Water Resources performed inspections on culverts penetrating levees in the Mud - Sycamore Creek Levee System and have identified 18 culverts to be repaired and 4 to be replaced; and WHEREAS, the County of Butte is and LMA and eligible to enter into an agreement with the Department of Water Resources and the State of California to fund and assist in maintenance activities; and WHEREAS, program eligibility requires that the County of Butte aipprove resolutions and execute a project agreement with the Department of Water Resources; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby accepts funds, pursuant and subject to all of the terms and provisions of the Control Section 6.10 of the Budget Act of 2016, awarded to the County of Butte by the California Department of Water Resources for a, State -Federal Flood Control System Modification Program project titled "2021-DMP-NA03-01" and the Butte County Board of Supervisors directs the Director of Public Works to sign a Project Agreement with the California Department of Water Resources, amendments thereto, and to sign requests for disbursements to be made under this Funding Agreement.
