Board Members,
We are preparing to bring ARPA requests to the Board for consideration, and we are starting to
receive unsolicited requests for funds from non-profits, schools, etc. Since the Board has already set
aside $1 million for these community-based organizations, our intent is to redirect these
organizations to these, and other potential funding sources.
While these organizations provide needed services, I believe there is an equity issue if we add these
requests to the main ARPA discussion, when we have already set up a parallel process for these
organizations to use. This could result in a situation where an organization that plays by the rules
ends up with no funding, and an organization that goes around the rules ends up with funding.
That being said, it’s the Board that ultimately determines funding. So if a Board Member wants to
have a non-profit, school, or other community-based organization considered for funding outside of
the non-profit process, and asks us to include it on the list, we will do so.
