HomeMy WebLinkAbout21-161WHEREAS, the California Department of State Hospitals (DSH) is responsible for the care and treatment of
individuals deemed incompetent to stand trial (IST) under Penal Code section 1370; and
WHEREAS, DSH has developed a Jail Based Competency Treatment (JBCT) program with the goal of restoring to
competency to individuals deemed IST so they may stand trial; and
WHEREAS, DSH is able to provide funding to local jails to enable JBCT program activities, to occur in incarceration
facilities statewide; and
WHEREAS, the Butte County Sheriff's Office is willing and able to provide JBCT program activities to inmates
deemed IST who are incarcerated in the Butte County Jail; and
WHEREAS, DSH and the Sheriff's Office have negotiated a contract for provision of JBCT program activities at the
Butte County Jail; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby approves the contract
with the California Department of State Hospitals for the provision of Jail Based Competency Treatment services.
