FROM THE BUTTE COUNTY SH�ER|FF'SOFFICE
WHEREAS, after 30years af dedicated public service, Deputy Brian Laginija will be retiring on December 30, 2021.
During his career, hisservice tothe citizens ofButte, County and the Butte County Sheriff's Office has been exemplary; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Laginjai began his career with the Butte County Sheriff's Office as a reserve Deputy Sheriff in
1991. In 1995, he was sworn -in as a full-time Deputy Sheriff by Sheriff Mick Gray. During his tenure, Deputy La8inja has
held a number of positions withiin BCSO, including a patrol deputy, an officer in charge and a field training officer. Deputy
Lagi 'a also spent time assigned to the Special Enforcement Unit emd Civil Divisimm;and
WHEREAS, Deputy Laginja has been a stalwart of the Butte County Sheriff's Office, Throughout his years of service,
hehas rmemtoredand guided several generations ofDeputy Sheriffs; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Laginja has and continues to be regularly recognized for his professionalism, compassion, and
commitment to the citizens of Butte County, which has been demonstrated by the remarkably large volume of letters of
appreciation and commendation he has received from both citizens and public officials aUike;amd
WHEREAS, Deputy Lagi 'ahasasaistedvviththeresponsetomanyernergencieoaffectimg Butte County, including
the Camp Fire in2018 and most recently, the North Complex Fire inSeptember ZO2O;and
WHEREAS, |nhis time at BCSO, to his fellow peace officers, Deputy Laginja has been a friend and loyal colleague
and, to the citizens of Butte County, he has been both an advocate for victimis and a vigilant guardian of the community;
and
WHEREAS, for the reasons stated above and for many more, too numerous to express, Deputy Laiginjaembod[es
the characteristics ofa superb Deputy Sheriff, an exemplary law enforcement officer, and great citizen of Butte County,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby express their deep
appreciation for the exemplary service and unselfish dedication of Brian Laginja during his career with the Butte County
Sheriff's Office.
