I have some fantastic news to pass your way. As you may recall earlier this year, Public Works asked the Board to consider funding cash flow to complete upcoming disaster recovery projects on roads impacted by the Camp Fire. This included Skyway, New Skyway, and Pentz Roads and falls under the funding purview of the Federal Highways Administration (FHWA) and Caltrans. While the projects were fully authorized and funded, the Federal Government had not yet allocated the necessary funding to allow timely reimbursement. In recent weeks, FHWA has been busy programming recent Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act funding approved by President Biden to state agencies so they could fulfill their funding obligations. Earlier this morning, we receive official word and authorization from Caltrans that the aforementioned projects are now fully funded to the tune of roughly $20.5 million. As a result of this funding action, we no longer need PG&E funding to provide cash flow and can expect timely reimbursements from our State and Federal partners when project construction begins. In the coming weeks, we will begin advertising these projects to the construction community and plan to complete this work by the end of 2022. I appreciate the hard work of our Public Works teams to continue to advocate for these and other projects on behalf of the residents of Butte County and look forward to the repair of these and other critical roads in 2022 and beyond. As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. – Josh
