RE CMSP Governing Board Supervisor Position Vacancy
CMSP is holding a special election for the Group 2 Supervisor seat previously held by Leonard Moty
of Shasta County.
The County Medical Services Program (CMSP) Governing Board is composed of County Supervisors,
County Administrative Officers, and county health and welfare officials from the 35 member
counties. The Governing Board administers the CMSP program, which provides health care services
to indigent adults in the 35 counties.
In fulfillment of its statutory responsibility, the Governing Board has regularized the terms of its
Board. The remaining term for the Group 2 Supervisor position ends 12/31/22.
Group 2 Counties include Butte, El Dorado, Humboldt, Imperial, Kings, Madera, Mendocino, Shasta,
Sutter, Tehama, Yolo, and Yuba.
Next week, Shaw Yoder Antwih Schmelzer & Lange will send out materials for the formal election, as
directed by the CMSP Board, to commence the special election. Currently, County Supervisor
Oscar Villegas of Yolo County has expressed interest in this position.
At this point, CMSP is meeting approximately six times per year. However, there is a possibility that
if health care changes occur at the Federal or State level, there could be additional work and time
commitments. Terms of Board membership are typically for three calendar years (commencing on
January 1 and ending on December 31). However, the current term to fill this vacancy will begin
March 15, 2022, and end on December 31, 2022. Should the candidate wish to remain in this
position, they will need to seek re-election for a new term beginning January 1, 2023.
If you are interested, please let one of us know by close of business Friday, February 25, 2022, and
we will add your name to the ballot.
Please note, no two Board members from the same CMSP County may serve as members of the
Board at the same time. Therefore candidates from Madera and Yuba counties may not currently
seek election.
We look forward to hearing from you.
