BUTTE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS APPROVES FREE RESIDENTIAL GREEN WASTE DISPOSAL
PROGRAM FOR RESIDENTS OF AT-RISK COMMUNITIES
With the success of a 2021 pilot program, the Butte County Board of Supervisors recently approved a
2022 Free Residential Green Waste Disposal program for properties in the Wildland Urban Interface
(WUI). The program will allow residents of at-risk communities to dispose of green waste for free at the
Neal Road Landfill on specific dates.
The Free Residential Green Waste Disposal Program will be available on the following dates in Spring
2022:
· March (19, 27)
· April (4, 12, 21, 29)
· May (4, 14, 22)
On these days, between 7a.m. and 3p.m., residents living in WUI areas can haul and unload their green
waste free of charge at the Neal Road Landfill. Residents are required to provide valid identification and
proof of residency. Residential loads are limited to 3 cubic yards per trip. If material is transported in
bags, the bags must be emptied on-site and removed by the hauler. Prohibited items include
commercial green waste, rounds larger than 24 inches, stumps, rocks, boards, and trash.
A map of the WUI area can be found at buttecounty.opennrm.org/maps/11349.
