I’m a researcher for the Hearst Television National Investigative Unit located in Washington D.C. My team and I are currently working on a story about the effects that climate change has had on dams, and we were hoping to interview civilians who have been impacted by dam floods. I was wondering if the Board of Supervisors in Butte County could potentially help us get in contact with any of the families who were affected by the Oroville dam spillway in 2017. If not with a family, we’d also appreciate help finding a contact who could connect us with a family. Please let me know if someone within this department can direct us appropriately. I appreciate your time. A little bit about us: Our stories here at the National Investigative Unit air on Hearst-owned TV/radio stations (ABC, CBS, NBC, CW, MyTV affiliates), newspapers (including the San Francisco Chronicle, Houston Chronicle, Connecticut Post, etc), and digital properties nationwide. We cover 52 million people a day; for context, the Big 3 broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) combined get 23 million viewers for their nightly newscasts. So our reach is broad and diverse and multi-platform.
