The ground breaking ceremony celebrates housing growth in Butte County, a county continuing to struggle with housing recovery after recent catastrophic fires. The Olive Ranch Senior Apartments will target housing specifically for lower-income seniors, funded in part by disaster recovery funding. It will consist of one three-story building with 51 one- and two-bedroom apartments. The location will take advantage of exceptional views of Table Mountain, the Oroville Dam, the Feather River, Downtown Oroville, and historic Table Mountain Bridge. Funds for the project development are from a 9% Tax Credit Equity Program, Community Development Block Grant- Disaster Recovery Multifamily Housing Program, and a private loan. Butte County’s federal and state representatives who have advocated for funding to support disaster recovery will be in attendance: Doug LaMalfa, United States House of Representatives, California’s First District; James Gallagher, California Assembly, Third District; and Jim Nielsen, United States Senator, California’s Fourth District. The Chair of the Butte County Board of Supervisors and Oroville City Mayor will be there to welcome more housing to the rapidly growing City of Oroville. Also at the ground breaking will be representatives from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, California Department of Housing and Community Development, and Butte County, who funded $1.6 million of the project through the Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery Multifamily Housing Program. The project developer is K2, a north state company with 20 years of experience developing similar multi-unit housing complexes. The Managing General Partner will be Community Revitalization and Development Corporation with expertise in managing apartment complexes.
