Good Afternoon,
I am writing today to alert you that the City of Chico under the leadership of our esteemed colleague
Paul Hahn, will be opening the doors to the pallet shelter on Monday 4/25/22 at 07:00am. A press
release is anticipated to be released from the City of Chico sometime tomorrow. Paul Hahn made
contact with me earlier today to advise of this soft opening as the City awaits final approval from the
Judge in the legal proceedings. This soft opening on Monday means that unhoused individuals may
enter the pallet shelter location voluntarily and no enforcement of illegal camping will occur at this
time. Once the Judge makes his final rulings, the City may begin enforcing illegal camping at that
time.
Representatives from DESS will begin serving clients at the pallet shelter location soon after clients
arrive.
I have cc’d Paul on this email in the event anyone has questions for him.
