Thank you. Miranda FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 11, 2022 CONTACT Jennifer Hard Program Manager, Butte County Probation Department 530-552-4394 / jhard@buttecounty.net LOCAL DRUG COURT CELEBRATES NATIONAL DRUG COURT MONTH WITH GRADUATION CEREMONY Oroville, Ca. – In celebration of National Drug Court Month, the Butte County Treatment Court, also known as Drug Court and the Butte County Veterans Treatment Court will hold a graduation ceremony on May 18, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at Butte County Superior Court located at 1 Court Street in Oroville. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception will take place at the Butte County Human Resources East Training Room located at 3 County Center Drive in Oroville. The graduation ceremony and reception will recognize 4 individuals who have completed an intensive program of comprehensive substance abuse disorder treatment, with close supervision and accountability. Treatment Court participants are regularly and randomly tested for substance use, and are required to appear frequently in court for the judge to review their progress. The accomplishments of the graduates demonstrate the tremendous impact Butte County Treatment Court and Butte County Veterans Treatment Court have had on our community. Individuals whose lives have been transformed by the treatment and support provided by Butte County Treatment Court programs will speak at the ceremony, including one Veterans Treatment Court Graduate, two Butte County Treatment Court participants and one Butte County Treatment Court Alumnus. There have been 840 Butte County Treatment Court Graduates since the program was founded in 1994. Treatment Courts are this nation’s most effective strategy to reduce recidivism among substance-addicted, nonviolent offenders with criminal histories. Nationally, 75% of individuals who complete such programs are not re-arrested saving billions of tax dollars, which is re-invested in the community. Research continues to show that Treatment Courts work better than jail or prison, better than probation alone, and better than treatment alone per National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP). We invite the media to join us as we honor our Treatment Court graduates and celebrate National Drug Court Month. Media representatives are reminded to please follow all requisite procedures to film or photograph inside the Courthouse. ### Miranda Bowersox Communications/Public Information Officer Butte County Administration 25 County Center Drive, Oroville Twitter | Facebook | YouTube | Pinterest
