BUTTE COUNTY REQUIREMENTS FOR OUTDOOR FESTIVAL LICENSES
Oroville, CA. — The Butte County Department of Development Services would like to inform all organizations that a
Festival License is required prior to holding any outdoor festival in the unincorporated area of Butte County. Outdoor
festivals subject to a festival license include events where 100 or more individuals attend a musical, theatrical or other
type of event.
An application for a license to conduct an outdoor festival shall be made in writing at the Butte County Treasurer-Tax
Collector Department, 25 County Center Drive, Suite 125, Oroville, accompanied by a nonrefundable application fee of
$100.00, plus a fee of $300.00 for environmental review pursuant to Butte County Code. Fees may be waived for non-
profit organizations. Information regarding this process and an online application is located at the following webpage
maintained by the Butte County Treasurer-Tax Collector:

Upon submittal, the application will be set for a public hearing before the Butte County Board of Supervisors in not less
than thirty days nor more than 60 days.
