Hello, I am writing regarding item 4.07, Letter of support for removal of Butte County from Future California Executive Orders Regarding Rental Housing Price Gouging. The staff report identifies the CA Tenant Protection Act of 2019 as an alternative to the Executive Order issued regarding rent control in a time of emergency (notably camp fire), however, the CA tenant protection act is based on the calculation of 5% per year plus CPI. As Inflation has currently increased past 6%, this makes the CA Tenant Protection Act not a viable alternative to keeping year over year rental increases under 10%. I must also remind the property owners on this board that the average renting persons wage is not increasing with CPI. Perhaps an alternative letter of support to the state to raise wages with CPI would be suitable with this letter, to continue show your support for camp fire survivors who have stayed working and renting local, as you have outlined in the staff report. Thank you for your consideration.
