SKYWAY ROAD REPLACEMENT
Paradise, CA – Construction work is progressing on the Skyway Road Replacement from the Chico City limits at
Potter Road to the Paradise Town limits at Skyway Crossroad. This week construction crews will complete the
initial lift of new asphalt on both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the Skyway. Starting next week, crews
will begin placing a subsequent lift of new asphalt on the eastbound and westbound lanes, which will be
topped with an open-grade asphalt course that will complete the driving surface. All major paving operations
are scheduled to be completed by July 4, 2022.
Construction will be performed from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Skyway will be limited to one lane in either direction
and/or both directions simultaneously with intermittent full road closure to move construction equipment and
perform necessary work.
Following the completion of the new asphalt surface, work will continue on the metal beam guard rail,
shoulder backing, and placement of new striping and markings. It is anticipated that the project will be
completed by the beginning of August. Lane closures will remain in place while this work is being performed.
Motorists can expect delays due to slow-moving traffic and intermittent periods of full road closure for
mobilizing equipment. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes such as Neal Road, Clark Road (Hwy
191), or Pentz Road.
