Date: June 1, 2022 District: 2 - Redding Contact: Chris Woodward Phone: (530) 225-3426 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SB 1 Culvert Rehabilitation Project Upcoming On State Route 3 in Siskiyou County REDDING – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2) and Roll N’ Rock Construction, Inc. are preparing to begin work on a culvert rehabilitation project on State Route 3 in Siskiyou County. The $504k project, which is funded in part by Senate Bill 1, will remove and replace drainage inlets and place rock slope protection at seven locations on SR 3 near Yreka, from just south of Kinkel Fire Road to 1.7 miles south of Richman Road. th Construction activities are anticipated to begin on Wednesday, June 8. Motorists will encounter one-way traffic control with up to 5-minute delays, Monday – Friday during daytime hours. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra time for delays. The project is currently anticipated to be completed by early July. Construction projects are subject to changes without prior notice. Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly based on the availability of SB 1 funds, including projects that are partially funded by SB 1. Through Senate Bill 1, Caltrans has committed to repair or replace 17,000 miles of pavement, 7,700 traffic signals, signs, and sensors, 55,000 culverts and drains, and 500 bridges by 2027.
