purchasing the food they need to maintain adequate nutritional levels; and
WHEREAS, CalFresh provides for the nutritional needs of vulnerable populations, within Butte County,increasing
their opportunities for success; and
WHEREAS, 19,812 Butte County households currently neueiveCaUFresh benefits resulting in 31,970 individuals
having increased access to healthy foods; and
WHEREAS, on average 1,775 applications for CalFresh benefits have been received each month in 2022; and
WHEREAS, low-income households will have continued access to CalFresh benefits and associated programs that
continue to provide access to vital nutritional programs and resources that benefit our communities; and
WHEREAS, public agencies and community pairtners are colla:borating to combat insufficient access to nutritional
needs for vulnerable populations and raise, awareness of the availability of CalFresh to all community members,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE ITRESOLVED that the Butte County Board ofSupervisors hereby declares the month of
May, ZO22as[a|FmeshAwareness Month |nButte County, established toraise awareness ofthe availability ofthe Ca|Fresh
program with the goal of increasing access to nutritional programs that can positively impact the health and well-being of
community members.
