WHEREAS, children have a right to thrive, learn and grow in a safe and loving environment; and,
WHEREAS, resource parents, including kinship caregivers, provide the love, safety and stability that children need
in order to overcome past traumatic experiences in order to reach their full potential; and
WHEREAS, Butte County resource parents are caring for and nurturing more than 228 children and youth in foster
care today; and
WHEREAS, Butte County resource parents help children transition from foster care to permanent homes through
adoption orguardianship; and
WHEREAS, through partnerships with families, child welfare staff, and public and private agencies, there is
collaborative effort to ensure that children are safe, supported aind successful; and
WHEREAS, Butte Countyjoins the nation in specifically recognizing May as National Resource Family Appreciation,
Month, in honor of the resource parents who act astrue championsfor the children in theircare and are helping to ensure
their brightest possible futures,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby recognize May 2023 as
National Resource Parent Appreciation Mionth.
