Here is a high level summary (with more details in the email from Kristi below). Good news on two of the three projects we submitted for FFY 23 support: FFY 22 – Oroville Veterans Memorial Park - $1M – Still awaiting information from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regarding next steps to receive award. FFY 23 – Cohasset Road Fire Safety Project - $2.8M – Congressman LaMalfa supports $1.4M for this project, and Senator Padilla has requested $2.8M for this project. The final figure will be determined after the July recess. FFY 23 – Palermo Drinking Water Project - $2.5M – Both Senator Feinstein and Padilla support $2.5M for this project. More to come after the July recess. Again – very positive news. Hi Brian – The FY23 appropriations process is moving along and I wanted to provide an update on the County’s projects as we move from House consideration of the bills to Senate consideration. As of yesterday, the full House Appropriations Committee has approved all twelve FY23 appropriations bill. The Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman reported this week that the Senate will begin mark-up th of their versions of the bills after the July 4 recess. So we should have a good understanding of where all the County’s project stand by the end of July. Here is the latest: Cohassett Road Fire Safety Project o Request: $2.8 million o House Status: Secured $1.4 million earmark in House FY23 Transportation-HUD Appropriations bill Congressman LaMalfa requested $1.4 million for the project. Bill passed subcommittee on June 23 and full committee on June 30. House report for the bill was published this week. See the attached excerpt from the report that highlights the earmark… this means it is IN THE BILL! o Senate Status: Pending request for $2.8 million in the FY23 Transportation-HUD Appropriations bill Senator Padilla requested $2.8 million for the project in the Senate version of the FY23 Transportation-HUD Appropriations bill. Mark-up anticipated after the July 4recess. o Next Steps: I will be reaching out to the Senate offices to support the County’s requests as the Senate prepares for mark-up of the bills. We will want to try to see if we can get a higher amount included in the Transportation-HUD bill for the Cohassett Road project that builds on Rep. LaMalfa’s securing of $1.4 million for the project and Sen. Padilla’s request for $2.8 million. I will provide the letter of support from the Butte Fire Safe Council to help in this regard. Palermo Drinking Water Project o Request: $2.5 million o House Status: Rep. LaMalfa did not select the project as one of his 15 priorities. o Senate Status: Pending request for $2.5 million in the FY23 Interior-Environment Appropriations bill Both Senator Feinstein and Padilla requested $2.5 million for the project in the Senate version of the bill Mark-up anticipated after the July 4 recess. o Next Steps: I will follow-up with the Senate offices to see if they need anything on the project prior to the mark-up. The fact that both Senators requested the funding puts the project in good standing. I’ll ask Kamie if she has any ideas on letters of support we could obtain from the community. County Road Vegetation and Brush Removal Fire Suppression o Request: $6 million o House Status: Rep.
