State of California • Department of Transportation Media Advisory Date: July 23, 2022 District: District 2 Contact: Samantha O’Reilly Phone: (530)768-3037 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Siskiyou County Free Appliance Dump Day Who: Caltrans District 2 and Siskiyou County General Services What: Free appliance dump day event When: July 23, 2022, 9 AM - 2 PM or until capacity is reached Where: 2420 Oberlin Road, Yreka Caltrans, in partnership with Siskiyou County General Services, will pay dump fees for appliances at the Oberlin Transfer Station on July 23 from 9 AM to 2 PM or until capacity is reached. Doors MUST be removed from refrigerators and freezers. Caltrans is working hard to fulfill our part in the Clean California initiative by holding dump day events in order to reduce illegal dumping in District 2 and keep our roadways free of trash. The Clean California initiative is part of the Governor’s $1.1 Billion initiative to expand state and local litter abatement efforts and provide thousands of job opportunities. It consists of four key action components: engagement and community investment, education, litter pick-up expansion, and infrastructure enhancements. As part of the litter pick-up expansion component, Caltrans is proposing the “Free Dump Day Events” where the public can dispose of their waste materials safely and properly for free.
