Date: July 1, 2022 District: 2 - Redding Contact: Chris Woodward Phone: (530) 225-3426 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE UPDATE: SB 1 Paving Project Upcoming on U.S. 395 in Lassen County REDDING – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2) and Hat Creek Construction & Materials, Inc. are preparing to begin work on the Bass Mountain Mill & Fill Project on U.S. 395 in Lassen County. The $1.8 million project, which is funded in part by Senate Bill (SB) 1, will cold plane the existing asphalt concrete surfacing and replace with a thin hot mix asphalt between Susanville and Janesville, from just north of Sunnyside Road to just north of the junction with State Route 36. The project will also include the replacement of signal loops at the U.S. 395/State Route 36 intersection and striping. th Construction activities are currently planned to start on July 11. Between July thnd 11 and July 22, motorists should plan primarily for nighttime operations, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings. Following that, motorists will encounter one-way traffic control Mondays through Fridays during daytime hours. 17-minute traffic delays are anticipated throughout the project. **Please note: Access between Richmond Road and the State Route 36/U.S. 395 th intersection is currently planned to be closed from July 17 at 7 p.m. until July th 19 at 7 a.m. Please follow detour signs in place during these operations and allot extra time for travel in the area. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra time for delays. The project is currently anticipated to be completed by the end of August. Construction projects are subject to changes without prior notice. Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly based on the availability of SB 1 funds, including projects that are partially funded by SB 1. Through Senate Bill 1, Caltrans has committed to repair or replace 17,000 miles of pavement, 7,700 traffic signals, signs, and sensors, 55,000 culverts and drains, and 500 bridges by 2027.
