Board Members,
The Superior Court Judges have referred Melissa Romero as the candidate for Chief Probation
Officer. I’ll bring it to closed session Tuesday to get negotiation authorization from you with the
intent on bringing a contract on the August 9 agenda.
Meanwhile, since Wayne Barley will be officially retiring on July 29, we’ll need to name Melissa as
Interim Chief Probation Officer for the time between July 30 and the August 9 meeting, when she
will (presumably) be appointed. You’ll see this as a supplemental to the July 26 agenda.
