I bought my first house in Magalia California, to become a Campfire survivor, and forced to move to Oroville area for cheaper housing to buy, to only become involved in the Bear/North complex wildfire and became a evacuee. Currently, I have and renting out my house to my In May 2020, my immediate family decided it was not safe for them to live in Chico due discrimnation towards people with mental illness and out of control Chico police officers that seem overzealous and non communicative towards family members. Chico policers caused recklessness that was unnecessary; by pointing six guns at heads for nothing and when my oldest went to court on suspicion of drunk driving, (the test came back negative for drunkenness), her attorney told her not to make it worse for herself, by challenging the six officers who pointed guns at her. If she was to fight this she had to get another attorney. said, the police camcorders were off at one point and her civil rights were violated after a male police officer would not allow my daughter to take care of herself, at the hospital, as she has a bleeding tumor and the male officer was insensitive and hostile towards her. I talked with the interim Chief Madden he said I wasn't there and I couldn't make a complaint because of hearsay and that is what you are more worried about than six guns pointed at your daughters heads, he laughed. I said this is a cultural matter. Police need to treat women in custody with respect of medical health issues. Mathew Madden was the Chico Police interim and I made a complaint and today, he is the Chico police Chief. No consequences for the officers or Mathew Madden words and non actions towards a concerned parent. He was rewarded to be Chicos Police Chief. Don't the city of Chico employees have any integrity? And Chico council members? Instead, The Chico city council's attitude and actions allow insensitivity and discrimnatiion on the basis of mental illness, skin color, latin based names in our metropolitan city. The message Chico says, it is ok for community members to berate, discriminate in the open on how a person looks or acts. At one time and at many different coffee shops, came out of a Mondos coffee shop to not be served. Because of the way he looks. Many businesses have discriminated on the physical appearance of what they think is a homeless person and not serving a potential customer. Respectfully, Ben Greenleaf
