Status Update
Dear Frank L. Blackett:
This letter presents a status update and plan and schedule for further actions to address
Recommendation 3 (R-3) from the 11th 5-year Part 12D safety inspection of Bucks
Hydroelectric Project, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) No. 619. PG&E
submitted its original plan and schedule for addressing R-3 in a letter to your office dated
December 31, 2020, with a subsequent extension of time request on December 30, 2021.
PG&E
recommendation is enclosed with this letter (Enclosure1).

Status Update and Plan and Schedule for Further Actions to Address
Recommendation 3 from the
11th 5-Year Part 12D Safety Inspection Report
Recommendation (R-3) was provided in the 11th 5-year Part 12D safety inspection
report for Bucks Storage Dam, which is part of Pacific Gas an
(PG&E) Bucks Creek Hydroelectric Project, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
(FERC) No. 619. For reference, R-3 is copied below,
and plan and schedule for further actions to address the recommendation.
R-3: The IC recommends that a study be performed to establish annual exceedance
probabilities for key reservoir elevations related to dam safety, and pool elevation
duration relationships. Key reservoir elevations include those associated with the
spillway crest, the top of the flashboards, and overtopping of the wave coping
wall and dam crest. See Section 3.2.1 and PFMs 8, 1, 2, and 5.
In accordance with the original plan and schedule for R-3, PG&E has retained an
engineering consultant to perform a stage-frequency analysis for Bucks Storage Lake.
PG&E plans to submit the report summarizing the findings from the analysis to FERC by
April 30, 2023.
