If yes, please the position titles and term dates served for each one. No. Why are you interested in serving? I am interested in serving because I want to help and get to know my community more. Being an active high school student on a public campus exposes me to many teens on the daily. There was a mental health club that I was a part of called NAMI. Unfortunately, the club failed due to inactiveness. However, when the club was running, I learned many things about the stigma on Mental Health. A bathroom at Chico High was closed due to the fact of a student trying to commit suicide, if this rumor is untrue, it still shows that there is a mental health problem at public schools. This is because suicide is a sensitive subject to even discuss about and for someone to make it up has to mean something. If the rumor were to be true, the school is keeping quiet and as far as I am concerned, they are not doing much about it. Also, I have heard that in the last semester, 40 attempts of suicide have been attempted by Chico High Students. This is only one school in the county, imagine what all the other schools are having to deal with. Covid did not help teens mental health, statistics show that the mental health of teens has increased. Also, not only do teens struggle with mental health, but middle schoolers do too. Mental health is an ongoing struggle that is affecting teens rapidly in our community are having. I am aware of teenagers having to take care of their siblings because their parents are unable to. Since there is a stigma on Mental health, lots of struggling teens do not reach out. I am an outgoing girl who can reach out to teens and help them. With my ability and strive to do so, I believe I can help our youth community get the help they need. Do you have any additional/applicable community experience or affiliations? I have done many hours of community service such as park clean ups, making hygiene kits, chalk art and making paper hearts for those in the community, I have served at the Jesus Center and Salvation Army, I have helped rebuild a church and helped another church give food to those in the LA Community. I moved to Butte County from the Bay Area and have been a resident since 1978. My experience here includes working with various groups organizing against the presence of racist hate groups (KKK, National Social White Peoples' Party) in Butte and surrounding communities. As an employee of Legal Services of Northern California in the 80s, I was appointed as its representative on Governor Browns Council on Racial Relations; worked to assist with, and facilitate the SAWS amnesty program for illegal immigrants; part of a support team dedicated to bringing public transportation to Butte County, and; provided legal information and assistance outreach to the communities of Oroville, Chico, and Paradise. I have also performed volunteer work for many non-profit, public benefit agencies over the years (Community Action Agency, KZFR and others).
