Blackett: This letter presents the plunge pool underwater inspection report for Grizzly Dam, which is part of Bucks Creek Hydroelectric Project, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) No. 619. In a letter to PG&E dated April 18, 2006, FERC recommended that an underwater inspection of the plunge pool be performed to evaluate the condition of the concrete at the plunge pool to dam interface. Generally, this dive inspection has been filed with the areas of special monitoring in the combined dam safety surveillance and monitoring plan and report (DSSMP/R) for Grizzly Dam. However, due to the size of the 2021 DSSMP/R it was determined that a separate filing would be appropriate, and the results of the report were only included by reference in the DSSMP/R. A detailed comparison of current findings with the previous dive in 2013 was not possible because of the generalized nature of the previous inspection. The 2013 dive inspection report was filed with your office on October 13, 2013.The current report (Enclosure 1) will serve as the baseline for further detailed inspections. As described in the dive report, the diver found the dam concrete to be in good condition, the concrete toe ledge extending from the dam to be in fair condition with areas of erosion and undercutting observed, and the plunge pool native rock to be in good condition. The report also supports the continued inspection of the dam at the FERC-recommended 5- year interval. Frank L.
