Date: May 18, 2022 District: 2 - Redding Contact: Chris Woodward Phone: (530) 225-3426 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SB 1 Drainage Replacement Project Upcoming On State Route 70 in Plumas County REDDING – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2) and Robert J. Frank Construction, Inc. are preparing to begin work on a drainage replacement project on State Route 70 in Plumas County. The $255k project, which is funded in part by Senate Bill 1, will be replacing five culverts (via cut and cover method) from just west of the Grizzly Creek Bridge to approximately two miles west of the junction with State Route 89 (Greenville Wye). rd Construction activities are anticipated to begin on May 23, 2022. Motorists will encounter one-way traffic control with up to 5-minute delays, Monday – Friday during daytime hours. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra st time for delays. The project is currently anticipated to be completed by June 21, 2022. Construction projects are subject to changes without prior notice. Caltrans and its contractors do our best to keep the public informed. To stay up to date on highway projects, please follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Updated highway conditions for California can be found on QuickMap and on One-Stop-Shop for the Western U.S. SB 1 provides $5 billion in transportation funding annually split between the state and local agencies. Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly based on the availability of SB 1 funds, including projects that are partially funded by SB 1. Through Senate Bill 1, Caltrans has committed to repair or replace 17,000 miles of pavement, 7,700 traffic signals, signs, and sensors, 55,000 culverts and drains, and 500 bridges by 2027.
