HomeMy WebLinkAbout22-143Resolution No. 22-143 C�ODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER APPRECIATION WEEK WHEREAS, the State of California has proclaimed the second week ofOctober ay [ode Enforcement Officer Appreciation Week and Butte County Code Enforcement Officers provide for the safety,health, and welfare ofresidents throughoutButteCmumtyth*ou8h,theenforcennentof|uca|,stete,andfedera||avvsandordinamcesdeaUngvvithvar|ous issues ofbuilding, zoning, housing, cannabis, abandoned vehicles, and life safety; and WHEREAS, Code Enforcement is complaint -based program that strives tneducate and achieve compliance through public outreach. Code Enforcement Officers have challenging and demanding roles and often do not receive recognition for the job they do in improving the quality of life for residents and businesses of location communities; and WHEREAS, the role of many Code Enforcement Officers has expanded in recent years with jurisdictions increasingly relying on the expertise and training of Code Enforcement Officers in their communities. WHEREAS, Code Enforcement Officers are dedicated, highly qualified, and highly trained professionals who share the goals mfpreventing neighborhood deterioration, enhancing communities, ensuring safety, and preserving property values through knowledge, training, and application ofhousing, zoning, and nuisance laws; and WHEREAS, Code Enforcement Officers have e highly visible role in the County nfButte. They interact and work with other County partners on a variety ofdifferent programs and ordinances, including the Cal Fire Defensible Space Program, Public Health STAKE Program, Environmental Health Division, and the Sheriff's Department; and WHEREAS, The County nfButte wants to recognize and honor the Code Enforcement Officers that serve our community and acknowledge their role in leading the way to improve the quality of life within our community; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby proclaims October 10 through October 14, 2022, as Code Enforcement Officer Appreciation Week in Butte County, PASSED AND ADOPTED 6«the Butte County Board ofSupervisors this IIwday ofOctober, 2U22,hythe following AYES: Supervisors Lucero,Ritter, Kinnnne|shue,Teeter and Chair Connelly NO�ES:Nmne ABSENT:0mne ABSTAIN: None ` Bill Connelly, Chair U Butte County Board mfSupervisors ATTEST: Andy Pickett, Ch|efAdministrative Officer and XClk thend By: Deputy
