Resolution No. 22-172
WHEREAS, Diane Brown, Assessor, announced her retirement as of December 30, 2022; and
WHEREAS,, Diane Brown began her career in the Butte County Assessor's Office on August 8, 1983 as a Typist Clerk
1, holding various clerical positions, promoting to Appraiser, advancing within the Department in nearly every division to
become Principal Appraiser; and
WHEREAS, Diane Brown was first elected Assessor in 20,14 and is currently in her second full term, of service and
has a reputation of understanding the complex property tax laws, rules and regulations; and
WHEREAS, Diane Brown is respected by her colleagues and team for her vast knowledge and experience in
property tax administration; and
WHEREAS, Diane Brown has held leadership roles in the California Assessors' Association, including serving as
Chairperson of the Forms Committee and serving on the Education, Standards, and Executive
Committees; and,
WHEREAS, Diane Brown has served her community through the local Red Cross and the Butte County Firesafe
Council and achieved the distinction of the YMCA "Public Servant of the Year" for her unmatched fundraising efforts on
behalf of these community-based organizations; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby wishes to express to Diane
Brown, sincere appreciation for her thirty-seven years and eleven months of dedicated service to the residents of the
County of Butte, and further wish her well on her retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 13th day of December, 2022, by the
following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Ritter, Kimmelshue, Teeter and Chair Connelly
