FROM THE BUTTE COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE
WHEREAS, Joyce Skaggs, Supervising Legal Secretary with the District Attorney's Office, has retired as of
November 29, 2022; and
WHEREAS, Joyce began her Butte County career as an Office Assistant I on April 2, 2OO1with, the Family Support
Division of the District Attorney's Office; and
WHEREAS, on August 17, 2001, she transferred to the Criminal Division of the District Attorney's office and
promoted to an Office Assistant III where she worked in the Office Support Unit; and
WHEREAS, in the Office Support Unit as an Intake/Discovery Clerk she coordinated with law enforcement
agencies and the Superior Court to ensure the efficient exchange of information and the meeting of strict criminal court
procedural deadlines; and
WHEREAS, she increased office efficiency through her contributions to the creation of modern information
procedures related to the successful implementation of new electronic case management sys enns; emd
WHEREAS, she promoted from an Office Assistant III to a Legal Clerk in March of 2005 and began preparing and
processing legal documents toassist the prosecuting attorneys; and
WHEREAS, |nApril 2O86Joyce promoted toaLegal Secretary and worked inthe Misdemeanor Unit.
WHEREAS, she promoted yet again to a Senior Legal Secretary in 2012 a:nd using her success in the
Misdemeanor Unit as a springboard, she moved to the more challenging Felony Unit in 2013; and
WHEREAS, she comipleted her career with the Butte County District Attorney's Office as a Supervising Legal
Secretary towhich she was promoted inOctober of2U2C;and
WHEREAS, Joyce is regularly recognized for her professionalismand commitment toboth the employees and
citizens ofButte County, Joyce is regairded as a truly kind-hearted friend and loya I colleague by her fellow employees;
and
WHEREAS, during her career of over 21 years of dedicated public service to the citizens of Butte County,she has
been anexemplary employee, leader, colleague and friend toall. Her unselfish dedication made Butte County msafer
place.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby expresses their deep
appreciation for the exemplary service and unselfish dedication of Joyce Skaggs during her career with the Butte County
