HomeMy WebLinkAbout22-183RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF GRANT HUNSICKER, DIRECTOR — DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES, UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE COUNTY OF BUTTE WHEREAS, GrantHumsider, Director ofthe Department of Generai|Services, has announced his retirement effective December 30, 2022; and WHEREAS, Grant began his career with the County |nJuly of2QD7asthe Property Manager within the County's youngest department, the Department of General Sen/ices. With Graint'm extensive prior experience in real estate and appraisal services, in addition to organizational management, Grant promoted to Assistant D�irec1orinJune of2OU9and Director inMay of2Q11;and WHEREAS, throughout his tenure in the Department of General Services, Grant's dedication has been steadfast to serving the citizens of Butte County via the work produced by the Department of General Services which supports and promotes other County Departments. Grant has crafted a nid refined the Department through countless changes to remain aligned with its mission statement "to build a reputation of integrity, pride, professimna|ison, and reliability. We strive for asafe and open work environment; and through effective planning, reduce risk, control cost and provide quality services for all County Departments"; aind WHEREAS, Grant served in the County Emergency Operations Center, Logistics Section through numerous emergencies and remains dedicated to emergency preparedness and emergency nespnnse. Grant is passionate about ensuring radio communications during disasters, leading him to obtaining his amateur radio license in 2013 and becoming one of few amateurs in California to pass the EC'016, a required certification, course to be a qualified emergency conmmunicatiomsmanager under the ARRLFollowing the 2018 Camp Fire, Grant worked with the Butte County Sheriffs Office and Office of Emergency Management to create the County's Auxiliary Communication Service policy; and WHEREAS, in 2019, Grant contributed to the formation of the Butte County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)|nconcert with the Butte County Sheriff sOffice. CERT, anational program managed bvFEMA, supports local communities to form and train |ucei volunteer -based programs focused on self -preparedness and assisting their communities with fire safety, medical response, search and rescue support, emergency communications and animal control support. Grant continues toprovide leadership, training and promotion nfthe Butte County CERT program; and WHEREAS, Grant has earned great respect amongst his staff for his model of leadership, his infectious energy, ultimate integrity and' overall kind�ness. Grant strives to support continuous growth and improvement of his staff inclividuallyand as a team, regulady providing for creative team building exercises, morale boosters, and mentorship, Staff appreciate Grant's support recognizing and balancing work reqmirennemt5vvith their personal and family needs. In the words mfhis staff "Grant was not always easy, but he has made each of us better." Grant will beforever known as the master ofthe Goat Rodeo. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby express its appreciation for over 15 years of dedicated service.
