HomeMy WebLinkAbout23-007A RESOLUTION OF THE BUTTE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AUTHORIZING APPROVAL OF A BUTTE COUNTY AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT CONTROL DISTRICT "THE DISTRICT" GRANT FUNDS FOR A BEAM EV CHARGING STATION WHEREAS, Butte County Department of Development Services recently adopted a 2021 Climate Action Plan Update. The 2021 Butte County CAP identifies a Strategy (#15) which supports the development of electric vehicle charging stations at County facilities: to implement projects and programs to reduce GHG emissions associated with Butte County operations. WHEREAS, The specific action 15 (c) is to install additional EV charging stations at County facilities. WHEREAS, The Department of Development Services is proposing a pilot program to install a solar powered, publicly and County fleet accessible EV charging station to be located at the offices located at 7 County Center Drive, in Oroville. This would be available to the community and for public agency fleet vehicles, with approximately 730 charges per year WHEREAS, The unit would enhance the viability of electric vehicle operation with potential reduction of GHG emissions of 5.1 metric tons of Carbon Dioxide while also enabling wider acceptance and use of Electric Vehicles. WHEREAS, The unit would also be utilized in emergency scenarios for battery charging of not only vehicles but other necessary equipment such as phones and computers during loss of grid power. WHEREAS, The installation could also prove the concept and become a stepping stone to wider implementation with installations at other County facilities, such as County Libraries and other public facilities. WHEREAS, The Butte County Department of Development Services grant application for the Carl Moyer Memorial Air Standards Attainment Program Infrastructure Application was approved by the Governing Board of the District on September 22, 2022. WHEREAS, The District will provide 85% of the total cost of the unit ($66,147.70) the County will be responsible for 15% of the cost of the unit ($11,673.12). WHEREAS, The County is subject to the terms and conditions as specified in the agreement.
