HomeMy WebLinkAbout23-040RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING CRIME VICTIMS' RIGHTS WEEN WHEREAS, since 19B1,National Crime Victims' Rights Week iscelebrated every year inApril; and isdedicated to learning about victimization and the effect victimization has on individuals, families, friends, and the community; WHEREAS, this year's theme of "Survivor Voices: Elevate. Engage. Effect Change" calls upon communities to amplify the voices of crime survivors and create environments where survivors have the confidence that they will be heard, believed, and supported; WHEREAS, Butte County victim service providers, advocates law enforcement officers, attorneys, and other allied professionals help crime survivors find justice by elevating and engaging with those survivors to lift their voices, inform policy and practice, and effect change; WHEREAS, Crime Victims' Rights Week provides an opportunity to recommit to listening to and supporting crime survivors in every space where decisions are made that could impact them; WHEREAS, by engaging with them, Butte County ensures our responses and services to victims and survivors are credible, meaningful, and centered on their individual needs; and WHEREAS, the Butte County District Attorney's Office and its Victim Assistance Bureau are dedicated to amplifying the voices of survivors and creating an environment where survivors have the confidence that they will be heard, believed, and supported. NOWTHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby proclaims the week of April 23-29, 2023asCRIME VICTIMS' RIGHTS WEEK, reaffirming Butte County's commitment to creating victim service and criminaIjustice response that assists all victims of crime not only during Crime Victims' Rights Week, but throughout the year; and express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for those cornnounhx members, victim service providers, and criminal justice professionals who remain committed to improving the response to crime victims so they may find support, justice, and peace.
