HomeMy WebLinkAbout23-044Whereas Butte County iscommitted tmrecognizing that growth, amdutnengtbdependomthesafotvand essential role that homes, buildings, and infrastructure, play, both in, everyday life as well as when disasters strike, and; Whereas the resilience of buildings that make up the community is achieved through the devotion of building safety and fire poevenUmnofficials, architects, engineers, builders, tradespeople, design professionals, laborers, plumbers, aimd others in the construction industry, who work year-round to ensure the safe construction of buildings, and; Whereas these professionals are dedicated mem,bers of the International Code Council, anonprofit that brings together local, state, territorial, tribal, and federal officials who are experts in the built environment to create and implement high-quiality codes to protect the buildings where members of the community live, leairn, work and play, and; Whereas these modern building codes include safeguards to protect the public from hazards such ashurricanes, snowstorms, tornadoes, vv0dhandfires, floods, and earthquakes, and; Whereas Building Safety Month is sponsored by the international Code Council to remind the public about the critical role of oommwmities' largely unknown, protectors of public smfety, our local code n00da|s, who ensure safe, swstainab�Ke, and affordable buildings that are essential to prosperity, and; Whereas "it Starts with Yo4°the theme for Building Safety Month 2823,encourages awareness about building safety on, a personal, local and global scale. Each year, in observance of Building Safety Month, people vVnddvVide are asked to consider the commitment to improve building safety, resilience, and economic investment and acknowledge the essential sen/ice provided by local and state building departments, fine prevention bureaus, and federal agencies in protecting lives and property. NOW, THEREFORE, BE[TRESOLVED that the Butte County Board mf Supervisors hereby proclaim the month of May 2023 as Building Safety Month.
