Dear Applicant,
The plans you recently submitted have been reviewed by the Fire Department referencing
the 2022 edition of the California Building Standards Codes. The numbered comments listed
below in the body of this letter must be addressed in writing prior to Fire Department Approval
of your project.
1. Sheet T1.2, Fire Department Notes, Sheet LS-101, Insert a note that "Fire
extinguishers shall be a minimum 2A:10B:C, with a travel distance not to exceed
75' from any point. Extinguishers shall be mounted in a conspicuous place, easily
accessible and readily available, and shall be along normal paths of travel.
Extinguishers shall be mounted so that the top of the extinguisher is no higher
than five feet above the finished floor. Where extinguishers may be subject to
physical damage they shall be adequately protected." CFC 906.2
2. Sheet T1.2, An automatic fire sprinkler per NFPA 13/13R and fire alarm will be
required, and it is noted that submittal is deferred.
3. Sheet T1.2, Fire Department Requirements, add a note to the plans "Prior to the
arrival of combustible materials onsite, provide an approved water supply for fire
protection" CFC 3312
4. Sheet T 1.2, Fire Department Requirements, add a note to the plans "Approved
vehicle access for firefighting shall be provided to within 100 feet of temporary or
permanent fire department connections. Vehicle access shall be provided by either
temporary or permanent roads, capable of supporting vehicle loading under all
weather conditions. Vehicle access shall be maintained until permanent fire
apparatus access roads are available." CFC 3310
5. Sheets A2.1 through A2.7, Place a note on the plans and indicate the locations of
all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. CBC Sections 907.2.11.2 and 915.1.1.
6. Sheet A3.IA, General Notes AA, Revise comment to state "Provide a key box
adjacent to the office main entry. Indicate on the plans that the key box shall be
Knox brand"KNOXVAULT® 4400"model or similar. The box may be surface
or recessed mounted. Contact Butte County Fire Marshal at 530-538-6320 for
order information. The box shall contain keys for the main entry, fire sprinkler
riser access, O.S.&Y Valve, MEP rooms, and alarm panel. CFC 506.1
7. Sheets Si.A4 and S 1.B4, General notes, place a note on the plans, and indicate
locations of attic access. CBC 1209.2
