Your submitted request for an Administrative Permit for additional fence height will not be processed by the Department of Development Services, and no fee is required. Pursuant to BCC Article III, Division 3, an existing fence exceeding the current height standard is considered to be a legal
nonconforming use, as there were no height restrictions on fences when it was constructed. Its
replacement does not require an Administrative Permit. Please ensure, however, that the fence is constructed without sheet metal, aluminium siding, barbed wire, razor wire, or other materials not specifically designed for use as fencing. Decorative masonry, wood, or ornamental steel or iron are appropriate as materials.
