Dear Butte County Board,
I wanted to let you know that the cuts to the library have impacted our family and this community. The reducedhours make it much harder to visit and check out books. Many young families have a hard time making it due topreschool and activity schedules and working the errand around young children’s nap times. The expanded hoursreally help young families to get out to read together.
The library is a valuable community resource. It provides not only books for education, research and improving kidsreading skills, valuable life skills and learning opportunities, but also a wonderful place to study and work quietlywithout distractions. Education is one of the things we most want in our communities and the library is key to that!Having great resources and reading skills develop life long learners and innovators! We homeschool and regularlytravel with my husband for his work and most often use libraries to do schoolwork in other cities. On days that thelibrary is closed, we have no quiet safe place to study or get out to read in inclement weather. There is no place likethe library to inspire learning. The library really is an amazing community resource for people of all ages! Isincerely hope you will reconsider reopening the library more days per week and hiring more staff.
Thank you!Sara
