Approval of the administrative permit allows the dwelling unit to be rented on a short-term basis (i.e. for periods less than 30 continuous days). The terms of the permit are in effect for one year from the date of approval, after which, the permit will expire. Prior to the expiration, our office will mail a notice of the permit’s pending expiration, together with information on renewing the permit. The Certificate of Approval and permit conditions are required to be posted inside the rental property in a prominent interior location within six feet of the front door. Any decision made by the Zoning Administrator, including the conditions of approval set forth in the permit, may be appealed to the Butte County Planning Commission, in accordance with Section 24-266 of the Butte County Code. If you are not in agreement with the decision, or the conditions of Page 2 of 2 approval, you must file an appeal in writing together with the appeal fee of $676.00 to the Department of Development Services no later than 4:00 p.m. on the first business day following 10 calendar days after the approval date.
